Music and calendar stay attached to the notch. Volume and brightness use the same surface, so the menu bar stays clear.
Pin files, start a timer, keep a note, or look back at the clipboard. History stays on the Mac and is off until you enable it.
Approve or deny a coding agent without hunting for a terminal. Agents is a separate add-on — it is not included in Premium.

Idle targets come from the project performance budget. On 14 July 2026, Activity Monitor on a MacBook Pro (M5 Pro, 24 GB) showed about 70 MB RAM and under 2% CPU during a full day with modules in use. That session is not the idle target.
Version 1 does not collect usage analytics from the app.
History is off by default and never leaves the Mac.
Raycast binds to 127.0.0.1. The token stays in Keychain.

A notched MacBook with macOS 14 or later and Apple Silicon. On an external display the island follows the cursor and becomes a capsule when that screen has no hardware notch. It does not launch on Mac mini, iMac, Mac Studio, or MacBooks without a notch.
The v1 app sends no telemetry. Network is used for update checks, license validation, optional lyrics, and — with the Agents add-on — quota lookups from those providers.
Yes. The source is GPL-3.0 on GitHub. A self-build runs the free tier. Premium and Agents still need a license key.
Premium is customization, lyrics, the camera mirror, notifications, a larger shelf, and higher note and clipboard limits. Agents is a separate €14.90 add-on for coding tools in the notch. See the comparison.
